What is a Keyboard?

A keyboard is an input device used to enter data into a computer.

It is used for:

  • Typing letters and numbers

Main Parts of a Keyboard

A standard keyboard has several groups of keys:

1️⃣ Alphabet Keys (A–Z)

  • Used to type letters.

  • Example: A, B, C, D …


2️⃣ Number Keys (0–9)

  • Used to type numbers.

  • Located at the top of the keyboard.

  • Some keyboards also have a numeric keypad on the right side.


3️⃣ Function Keys (F1–F12)

  • Located at the top row.

  • Used for special tasks.

  • Example:

    • F1 – Help

    • F5 – Refresh


4️⃣ Control Keys

These keys help control commands:

  • Ctrl (Control)
